Asked for a statement about the LNG Storage Facility, Sue Connor President of The Gibsons & District Chamber of Commerce gave the author the letter reprinted below.

They have been asked for the reasons for their endorsement of the LNG Facility but so far have not been able to respond.

Letter to Robert J. Pellatt, Commission Secretary, BC Utilities Commission

December 15, 1997

Dear Mr. Pellatt;

We the Gibsons & District Chamber of Commerce wish to go on the record as being in support of the West Coast Energy L.N.G. storage facility proposal for McNab Creek.

We have had an opportunity to review the project and we are of the opinion that West Coast Energy Inc. will be constructing a state of the art facility.

We are aware that the S.C.R.D. is in the process of having the technical material from West Coast Energy reviewed by an independent firm to ensure sufficient Risk Assessment and Public Safety. We feel this is appropriate and necessary due diligence.

If this review corroborates the engineering and technical data proposed by West Coast Energy we would welcome them into our community.
