Webtide Internet Solutions Alert - Reciprocal Linking
With
the ever-increasing number of websites on the internet, search engines are overloading.
Viewers are turning to additional options to find quality sites.
Reciprocal Linking is becoming the option of choice for many viewers.
What
is Reciprocal Linking?
Reciprocal Linking is the exchange of links between websites. For example: You
sell gardening clothes. Finding sites that sell plants, gardening books or relaxation
therapies may be good sites to exchange links with. Your sites are not in direct
competition but complement each other. You can both benefit from the links by
being associated with another high quality site and by reaching a targeted audience.
And,
bonus time!
- Some search engines prioritize placement by the number of links a site has with
other sites linking to it. So, the more reciprocal links you have, the better
your chances of placing higher in the search engines!
How
is it done?
1. Find a website that complements your product or service.
2. Send a polite email to that site explaining who you are and why you would like
to exchange links.
3. Include your contact information and the URL of your website.
4. When the other site agrees, you place a link on your site to their website
and they do the same for you on theirs.
Be
ready
Create a small ad sized logo to send to sites that will place an image on their
site. Create both a block style and a horizontal style. Use animation if possible
to draw the viewer's eye.
Have
an html tagged text solution to send to sites that can accommodate only text and
no graphics. Include your Company Name or Website Name and a tag line. This way
you save them time and assure your link appears exactly like you want it to.
The html tag would look something like this:
<p><font
size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Heletica, sans-serif" color="#FF000"><a
href="http://www.westcoastwidgets.com"><b>West Coast Widgets</b><br>The
best widgets this side of the Rockies!</a></font></p>
Would
appear as:
West Coast Widgets
The best widgets this side of the Rockies!
Track/Check
Watch your statistics each month to track improvements in page views and hits.
Also, visit your linking sites on occasion to check on your links. Sometimes with
updates or site design changes your link may be mistakenly removed.
Relax
You deserve it. Get out and do some gardening!
